UAAP Season 89
2026–27 Philippine university athletics season

UAAP Season 89 will be the 2026–27 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Far Eastern University (FEU) will be season's host, with the theme "For Everyone, UAAP".[1] The opening ceremony is set to be held on September 12, 2026, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.[2]
Background
Deaths of Divine Adili and Rene Baterbonia
On June 8, 2026, Ateneo Blue Eagles men's basketball players Divine Adili and Rene Baterbonia's deaths were announced by the Ateneo de Manila University. Ateneo announced that Adili, who had already played in the UAAP, and Baterbonia, a new recruit in the team, drowned in a team building activity off the waters of Dipaculao, Aurora.[3] Two days later, the UAAP issued a statement saying they "will go where the evidence leads" in response to the drownings.[4] More than a week later, the UAAP announced that members of the Ateneo coaching staff that were present in Aurora were barred from joining any UAAP-sanctioned activities.[5]
On August 7, the UAAP announced the perpetual ban on former Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin and certain Ateneo men's basketball staff, but allowed Ateneo's teams to participate.[6]
Addition of guest teams
FEU is considering adding guest teams in the girls' tournaments of some sports.[1]
