2025: Formation and debut
On March 10, 2025, Dreamcatcher Company announced that, after eight years together, three members of Dreamcatcher had chosen to not renew their contracts with the label. Four members elected to renew their contracts, with JiU, SuA and Yoohyeon choosing to remain and form a new group.[1] The name UAU was revealed on April 17, with a syllable taken from each member's name.[2] Their debut EP, Playlist #You Are You, was announced on May 8 and released at the end of the month, on May 28.[3] Following the EP's release, the trio performed at Weverse Con on May 31.[4]
2026: Playlist #Your Youth
On June 11, UAU released the scheduler for their second mini album Playlist #Your Youth, set for release on July 1. Their song "GENE" reached number one on the BUGS chart, holding that position for four hours. It also remained on the chart for 74 hours. "GENE" debuted at number six on the Circle Weekly Download Chart, Dreamcatcher's highest chart position to date (followed by BONVOYAGE and MAISON at number ten, and JUSTICE at number eleven). The mini-album peaked at number eleven on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and reached number one on the iTunes Top Albums charts in Hong Kong and Peru. The lead single, "GENE," also reached number one on the iTunes Top Songs chart in Peru.
