"Until the Sun Explodes" is a song by the American rock band Sublime, released as the band's second new single from the band's upcoming fourth studio album of the same name (2026).[1]
Similar to the band's previous single "Ensenada", the song was a minor hit on radio airplay, peaking at number 10 on Billboard's Rock & Alternative Airplay chart,[2] and number 12 on their Alternative Airplay chart.[3] It became the most added song to US alternative radio on March 31, 2026.[4]
The single was well received, with critics such as Gil Kaufman noting that "Jakob, whose voice eerily echoes his dad’s chill, caress me down manner, directly confronts the family legacy in the lyrics".[5] In an article for Consequence, Trey Alston writes that "The title track for Until the Sun Explodes is just as emotional as Jakob makes it sound. It moves at a brisk pace as the young frontman sings to his father. It mixes melancholy with a feel-good vibe that sticks around long after it ends."[1] Stereoboard calls it a "sunny, feel-good offering that sees Jakob pay tribute to his father."[6]
Music video
The song's music video was shot around Long Beach, California which has a long history with the band and also has references to the band's SoCal skating culture.[7]
