I work as a Wikimedian in Residence for the Scottish Library and Information Council.
If I could visit a fictional character, I would go meet with Thursday Next in Jasper Fforde's Great Library. The OUPBlog has voted the Cheshire Cat as one of the best librarian characters in Fantasy Fiction.
Example List
I am particularly interested in the following topics:
- Increasing the amount of quality content uploaded to Wikipedia on Scottish Culture
- Bridging the gender gap - encouraging more women to edit on Wikipedia
- Increasing the number of female artists featured on Wikipedia
- Increasing the number of LGBT and queer artists featured on Wikipedia

Why have a Wikimedian in Residence with SLIC? For those of you who haven't yet heard of the residency, the post was first advertised by SLIC in May 2017[1]. The aims of the residency are to help position public libraries in Scotland as quality content creators of free and open access information on Scottish culture.[2] Sara Thomas delivered phase one of the residency[3] which was completed in April 2018 before moving on to a new post as the Wikimedia Coordinator for Scotland. I have now taken over from Sarah for phase two of the residency and I will keep you posted with my progress.
