Hi! My name is Leland Bryant Ross. I am 71 years old (born 29 March 1954) and have lived most of that time in or near Seattle, Washington. I am fluent in Esperanto, having taught it to myself beginning in 1970, received college credit in it from the University of Portland and from San Francisco State University, and have C1-level certification in it; I also have lesser but useful degrees of ability in a number of other languages. I am an American Baptist and an amateur hymnologist. More than a dozen of my hymn texts (three original, the rest translations, mostly from English) have been published in Esperanto-language hymnals, and my TTT-Himnaro Cigneta now archived in the Wayback Machine is the largest online collection of Christian hymns in Esperanto. I had an Internet encyclopedia in Esperanto that I started shortly before Wikipedia was born, and in the early days of Wikipedia several of my articles were used as sources for the first articles in the Esperanto Wikipedia. I am a shapenote singer and am working on the compilation of the first polyglot fasola oblong tunebook, working-titled Sankta Harmonio. I love sushi and takoyaki. For over a decade I was a Wikipedia editor, in more than a dozen different languages (but mostly Esperanto and English), generally under the UserName Haruo, which is my name in Japanese and my favored handle in Esperanto, but months ago some change in the rules for names caused me to be barred from my accounts. I finally gave up on figuring out how to get back the content I already had there, and decided today to create a new account. Maybe my newbie mentor ARandomName123 will be able to explain to me why I was let go and how I can reintegrate myself with myself. --LelandRoss (talk) 20:25, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
