I am a lifelong Wisconsinite, an architect by trade, and a fan of all things Wisconsin sports. I just celebrated my one-year anniversary as an editor, and a keen interest in the history of Wisconsin high school athletics was my gateway into creating content for the site. After seeing the level of documentation for the high school athletic histories for other states (especially Indiana), I was inspired to make the history of Wisconsin high school athletics as complete and as thorough as I can make it. I've either created new articles or edited existing ones for over 150 high school athletic conferences in Wisconsin, along with creating articles for two organizations that existed prior to merging with the WIAA (the WCIAA and WISAA).

Ultimately, I would love to see somebody inspired by this project as I was to create it; to see what I worked on for Wisconsin and want that for their home state. Whether or not you're that person, I'm happy to assist you in your journey

Current research priorities (as of 12 February 2026)

  • Conference histories for northwestern Wisconsin: There seems to be a donut hole of documentation for some of the northwestern counties of Wisconsin, and it's the region I've found the least information for. Fellow Wisconsin sports history enthusiast Badgeractuary has been an enormous help with figuring out the histories of some of the conferences that I have been able to successfully document, but there is still more to be done here.
    • UPDATE: It looks like the Superior Evening Telegram has recently been added to Newspapers.com, which has helped to confirm dates for the Upper Wisconsin, Soo Line (both conferences) and Flambeau, but it's still not complete.
    • UPDATE: I just added a page for the Chequamegon Forest Football Conference, which existed from 1960 to 1968 and contained several Indianhead Conference members. It was replaced by the Top of Wisconsin Conference in 1969, and after finding league information on a website devoted to South Shore's athletic history, I was able to complete a page for this one as well.
  • Documentation of single-sport conferences: My research has been basketball-focused for the most part, as it is usually a good indicator of all-sport membership in a conference and the reason most early conferences were formed. However, some smaller conferences either did not sponsor football or sponsored 6-player or 8-player football, especially in the first half of the 20th century. I've documented all of the football-only conferences that I currently know of, including all of the current ones. I've also done articles the four current single-sport conferences (not including joint sponsorships, which are covered in the respective articles for each conference) and am currently working on defunct single-sport conferences (mostly hockey).
  • Articles for out-of-state conferences with Wisconsin schools: Over the course of Wisconsin's high school athletic history, there have been a few schools to play in out-of-state conferences, mostly in Michigan's Upper Peninsula but also some in Illinois and the Twin Ports area. So far, I've done articles for two Twin Ports area conferences (Head of the Lakes and Lake Superior) and three in the Upper Peninsula (Gogebic Range, Little Seven and Porcupine Mountain). I've also started a history narrative for the Menominee Range but have not been able to confirm a start date.
  • Updates to enrollment figures based on 2025-26 school year: When I first started to do conference membership tables, I included enrollment information regardless of whether or not the conference was active. I am going through and removing that information as I do not believe it is relevant to past alignments. The only place I'll be showing it is in the table of current members in each of the active conferences (including single-sport conferences). I also had previously based figures on the 2023-24 school year and a page from a website that will no longer be active soon, so I am changing formats to individual citations leading back to the WIAA School Database. This site gets changed every year with updated numbers, so this should also make future maintenance easier.
