I am a mainland China 1987-born and coined the pseudonym Quinhonk with a combination of my childhood best friend's name's approximate pronunciation and the number Five by "Quin" for the fifth floor where I spent my childhood in and the fifth month May of my birthday. The initiation of the name was incentivized by avoiding the traces of my identity online with the Chinese Communist Party's strong cencorship and the lianzuo culture [1] that can jeopardize my original family's safty along with my own, before the total closedown of the Chinese internet from the rest of the world. I had been active in LGBT rights in mainland China and human rights in general, with a combination of the cinematic arts and contemporary art[2][3][4]. It is only by time the pseudonym for online presence becomes irrelevant for my sense of security, whereby I may use it for signature of my past artworks for the value of remembrance.
