If I were a sysops
If I were a sysops on a Wikipedia, I wouldn't be interfering (i.e. nominating pages for deletion, reverting edits without quoting a reason etc.)[a] with normal day to day editing by the users. I would have been using the sysops tools only for servicing any complaints, requests or suggestions by the other users and not for servicing my own instincts[b].

- New users normally become active in 2nd or 3rd year of their joining.
