| My pet peeve is about contributors who have clearly never seen, let alone read, any encylopaedia. As a punishment I would like a real encyclopaedia to be dropped on them. |

Intro
Saga City is a pedant and delusionist who was born in the City of Bath, Somerset[a] (not Bath, Avon)[b] on October 9, 1947 and was christened on the first Sunday of 1948 at Church of St Andrew, Curry Rivel[c]. After leaving SCGS his first place of work, in 1964, was No.1 King William Street, London where his boss was Peter Fleming who was not there during the early days of Saga City's employment as he was at the funeral of his better-known younger brother Ian.
His first contribution to Wikipedia was on 20 November 2004 – about twelve months before he had a broadband connection; looking back he wonders how he put up with the slow access.
George Orwell’s six golden rules
- Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.
- Never use a long word where a short one will do.
- If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
- Never use the passive where you can use the active.
- Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
- Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.
