Clarke Energy is a privately owned multinational company specialising in the generation of power utilising gas engines from gaseous fuels. Clarke Energy is an independent company with head offices in Knowsley, Liverpool and is a distributor for GE Energy's [1][2] Jenbacher gas engine, with over 600 staff in ten countries worldwide. The company has seen a number of years robust growth on the back of a porfolio of applications tailored to renewable energy and high efficiency generation.[3][4] [5]

In the UK Clarke Energy is the leading supplier of landfill gas generation equipment, in Australia for Coal Mine Methane gas engines and in France for natural gas cogeneration units.[6]
The company was established by Jim Clarke in 1989 as a service provided for Ruston diesel engines as Marine Manpower Services [7]. In 1995 Clarke Energy became distributor for Jenbacher Gas Engines[8]. In 1998, from its success in the UK Clarke Energy began to expand overseas. In 2002 GE aquired Jenbacher, the Austrian gas engine specialist company [9] commencing Clarke Energy's relationship with GE. Clarke Energy helped develop some of the first projects as part of GE Energy's Ecomagination initiative including a biogas projects in Punjab, India.[10]
Clarke Energy is a member of the Renewable Energy Association[11] and a founding member of Lord Redesdale's Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association[12] Clarke Energy is also a multiple award winner of the British Safety Council's International Safety Award.[13]
