Welcome!

Hello! I noticed your contributions to Yawl and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. You are welcome to edit anonymously; however, creating an account is free and has several benefits (for example, the ability to create pages, upload media and edit without one's IP address being visible to the public).

Happy editing! HopsonRoad (talk) 17:19, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Someone reverted it and I reverted their edit 103.176.202.50 (talk) 12:17, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
Which was a mistake. It's not a serious source of potential confusion and just looks like a childish and unnecessary addition to the article. Please leave it out. Thank you DBaK (talk) 12:48, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
You also left this message, which appears to be a threat. Threats can cause loss of editing privileges. I concur with DBaK about whether the contribution was constructive. I plan to revert your edit. The proper place to discuss whether it is a beneficial contribution is at Talk:Yawl. I left the welcoming message on the assumption that your edit was WP:Good Faith, not because I agree with it. Sincerely, HopsonRoad (talk) 12:58, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Iiii I I I (talk) 07:48, 7 February 2025 (UTC)

Why you are seeing this message: Your current IP address is blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to belong to a VPN or proxy service.

These types of services are commonly used for abusive editing and circumventing Wikipedia policies, so Wikipedia blocks them as a preventive measure — even if you personally haven't done anything wrong.

How to resolve this:

  • Turn off VPNs, proxies, or tools such as iCloud Private Relay (for Apple users) or Microsoft Edge Secure Network. This is the most frequent reason that users encounter this block.
  • Try a different network connection. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or use a home network instead of a public or work connection.
  • Whitelist Wikipedia. You may be able to whitelist Wikipedia from your VPN service so that connections to Wikipedia aren't tunneled through the VPN. Instructions for whitelisting Wikipedia on iCloud Private Relay can be found here.
  • Still blocked? If you believe that you are not running an anonymizing proxy or Tor, you should consider checking your network configuration to verify that this is actually the case. Network configurations can be changed without your knowledge, sometimes due to malware. In truly exceptional circumstances, you may request IP block exemption. Approval is limited and based on specific criteria, and you should only request it if you have no other way to edit Wikipedia.

Note: These blocks are applied because of the configuration of your network or internet connection. They are not applied as a result of your actions, nor are they applied in order to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. We always appreciate good-faith contributors to this project, and we want to help you with being able to edit Wikipedia again.

How to appeal if you are confident that your network connection does not use an open proxy or VPN service:
If you are confident that you are not connecting through an open proxy, web host, VPN service, or using Tor, you may appeal this block by adding the following text on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not a web host. My IP address is _______. Place any further information here. ~~~~}}. You must fill in the blank with your IP address for this block to be investigated. Your IP address can be determined here. Alternatively, if you wish to keep your IP address private you can use the unblock ticket request system. There are several reasons you might be editing using the IP address of an open proxy provider (such as if you are using VPN software or a business network); please use this method of appeal only if you are certain that your IP address is in fact not an open proxy provider.
Information for administrators:
Administrators: The IP block exemption user right should only be applied to allow users to edit using open proxies, web hosts, VPN services, or using Tor in very exceptional circumstances, and requests should usually be directed to the functionaries team via email. If you intend to grant the IP block exemption user right, a CheckUser must take a look at the account first. This can be requested most easily at SPI Quick Checkuser Requests. Unblocking an IP or IP range with this template is highly discouraged without at least contacting the blocking administrator.
