Your submission at Articles for creation: sandbox (March 3)

- in-depth (not just brief mentions about the subject or routine announcements)
- reliable
- secondary
- strictly independent of the subject
- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to User:DeCuzziFragrance/sandbox and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- Hello, thank you very much for the reply. I think I was banned from Wiki now by accident. Could I still ask some questions? DeCuzziFragrance (talk) 15:03, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- Not 'banned', only blocked, and not by accident but for the reasons given in the block notice below.
- That said, you're very welcome to ask questions, and I will try my best to answer them.
- If, however, you would like to appeal your block, you will have to follow the instructions in the block notice. That way a different administrator will come and review the block and your appeal. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:11, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- Okay excellent, I am new to all this thank you for your help and I will be sure to follow through with the appeal. For a small local business such as DeCuzzi Fragrance, how would one go about page creation without personal conflict? DeCuzziFragrance (talk) 15:20, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- Firstly, you should have picked a username which a) doesn't promote your business, and b) refers to an individual editor, not a collective entity. So for example 'Jane at DeCuzzi' or 'FragranceLover2026' or whatever. The username doesn't need to reveal your real name, although it may do if you so wish. This isn't the biggest issue here – if you can otherwise get yourself unblocked, I can rename your account very easily.
- Secondly, you needed to disclose your conflict of interest (COI) as a paid editor, ie. someone who is either editing as part of their job, or stands to gain financially from promoting a business, etc. You can see more on this at WP:PAID.
- Thirdly, you must understand how Wikipedia articles are written. They are not an opportunity for you to tell the world about your business, that is considered promotion here (see WP:YESPROMO). Our articles almost exclusively summarise what reliable and independent sources (mostly secondary ones) have said about your business; the process is outlined in WP:GOLDENRULE. The sources you base the article on also need to show that your business is notable enough to justify an article; the vast majority of businesses aren't. The relevant notability guideline for companies is WP:NCORP, please study it carefully so you know what sort of sources we would need to see.
- You should also bear in mind that if you get yourself unblocked, create another draft on your business, and if that is accepted for publication, after that you can no longer edit the article directly yourself, and must instead make edit requests via the article's talk page, and those requests will be reviewed by independent editors who may or may not accept them. In that sense you lose control of the article the moment it is published, and do not 'own' it in any way. Ironically enough, you're the only one who isn't allowed to edit the article – everyone else is, as long as they support their edits with reliable sources. Some of the things other editors might say in the article may not necessarily be to your liking, this is why an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. I'm bringing this up now, so that you can have another think about whether you actually want a Wikipedia article about your business in the first place.

- I really appreciate all of this information a lot. I will certainly revisit thoughts of creating a Wiki for this. At some point in the future, and the company takes off largely.. and someone creates a page about my business with misleading information.. am I allowed to request edits? DeCuzziFragrance (talk) 17:30, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- (driveby comment) You would need to get unblocked to do so, but yes, you could make an edit request if there was false information on a page for something you're involved with. You'd need to be clear that you have a conflict of interest and count as a paid editor when you do so. ~2026-14236-83 (talk) 14:53, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello, DeCuzziFragrance!
Having an article draft declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. If you have any other questions about your editing experience, we'd love to help you at the Teahouse, a friendly space on Wikipedia where experienced editors lend a hand to help new editors like yourself! If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. If you are having trouble, you may want to try using the unblock wizard.
Before requesting a new username, check if it is still available. If the search says "There is no global account for [username]", the username is free to use.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the edit. DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:59, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Request reason:
DeCuzziFragrance (talk) 15:39, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Accept reason:
- I have renamed your account. Another uninvolved admin will review your unblock request. PhilKnight (talk) 17:18, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- Because of the incentives for promotionalism, writing about small businesses on Wikipedia is actually one of the more stringent and difficult areas of editing. On the other hand, your passion for cars could likely be a good interest to pursue here. I would be willing to unblock you if you accept topic ban from active businesses, which would mean that you would be expected to stay away from editing content related to those topics. You could then appeal this ban once you've made a substantial amount of edits elsewhere. Are these conditions acceptable to you? signed, Rosguill talk 02:28, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, yes I agree to those terms. Originally I read through a lot of the topics and think I misunderstood posting a wiki for the business, my apologies.Thank you AnthonyDeCuzzi (talk) 03:24, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- DoubleGrazing, any further input as blocking admin? signed, Rosguill talk 03:45, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Rosguill: if you're happy to unblock, I've certainly no issue with that. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:30, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
