Hi there, just a suggestion for future references, when creating an AIV report, feel free to explain in your original message the reason for reporting, i see you followed up after with the reason and that it no issue, its just found to be best practice.
You can also use tools like Twinkle or Ultraviolet to automate this in a format that is easily understandable to all users.
Wish you the best and happy editing! JoBo Gamer 12:21, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Bot edits
Re your edit summary here: This was an edit by a bot, and bots don't read edit summaries. Generally, if a bot makes an edit you interpret to be a mistake or you need clarification, the best thing is to reach out to the bot operator.
In this case, the bot task was handling maintenance categories for the television WikiProject. This article was in Category:Episode lists with incorrectly formatted alternative air dates, which is monitored by the bot. Simply reverting the bot's edit just put the article back into the same maintenance category (since it then still had misformatted dates), thus the bot just ended coming back around to it again (which is the only reason I became aware of this).
Addressing each of your listed concerns directly:
you blatantly destroyed citation 1
: That actually was a mistake on the bot's part and it has now been corrected in the bot's code. This would be something you need to contact the bot operator for.changed date formats that didn't make any difference
: Actually, yes, these do make a difference, which is why it was in the maintenance category to begin with. Please refer to the note for|AltDate=in the {{Episode list}} docs.and screwed up most episode summaries!!
: I reviewed the edits made, and frankly, I'm not seeing where it "screwed up
". The only episode summary edits that I see were wikilink formats. This particular bot runs in AWB, which also applies "genfixes" for a litany of items, one of which is best practice formats for wikilinks.
If you need clarification or have other questions/concerns, just ask. ButlerBlog (talk) 19:04, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
- Neah, I really owe you a ton of thanks for helping to introduce the categories I wasn't sure where to even begin. I've now understood the complaint answers to 1 and 2. As for the bot's interference with the episode summaries, I didn't clearly see a good reason why the (plural) "s" is to exit the blue link in the source view. And trust me man, I already knew that was a bot. I have a, rather strange behavior of communicating to them, like another one there — B.J (talk) 02:56, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- No worries. Most bots will include some link either to its task, how to report a bug, or both, in it's edit summary - I know mine does. So if anything comes up in the future, just reach out and let me know. ButlerBlog (talk) 13:45, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
don't revert me without reading the edit summary
that's really gross, dude~2026-87016-6 (talk) 13:45, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

i was in the library for FIVE WHOLE HOURS studying up on cicadas (I am studying to be an entomologist :D). I was reading this book from like 1910 or something and it like was really old n stuff. anyway, it mentioned the landslipper and hither to, i had not heard of this cicada. so i went on to wikipedia to learn more about him and he didnt freaking have an article! anyway, i found out this thing was discovered by Frankie Xavier Fever or whatever his name was, and me wanting to be a first time contributive member of this community, i added ALL of the information found from this darn book, that i forgot the name of, to his page. so yeah. im like, totally ticked off. we should settle this over a game of shuffleboard. up to you though i dont really care i guess. anyway have a great wednesday or thursday or friday or saturday. ~2026-16368-62 (talk) 07:10, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
