1953–54 French Rugby Union Championship
I am researching the history of The French Rugby Union Championship. In this process, I compile a document of every season's matches and results.
In my quest to obtain as much information as I can, I found that the details of the "Last 32" of this season, contains four teams, that do not appear in any of the 8 Pools. These teams are: ALBI, NIORT, STADE BAGNÉRAIS and TOULOUSE OEC. This leave me with the following questions: 1) Why did these teams only play in this phase of the tournament? 2) Where did they come from? 3) If they should not be there, which teams should take their places? 4) If they should be there, which teams did not take part in the pool matches?
Any information that will clear this up, will be highly appreciated.
