Where does Madalino say about Byzantium used to denote the Empire as a whole? There is no question that it was used to refer to city ~2026-40685-02 (talk) 16:02, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

- I suggest you read it, but you can also read the article which explains it. Theodore Metochites was the first to use Byzantine to represent the entire people, apparently, which predates Plethon and Chalkokondyles. Yes, it referred to the city but this article is not about the city, the link takes the reader to that. Biz (talk) 17:29, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
