I wanted to explain further why I reverted your additions to the Palau scops owl page. The added edits rely very heavily on one source – please consider reviewing Wikipedia:Articles with a single source on some of the concerns that may arise when this occurs. In a similar vein, I noticed that much of the added material follows the structure, flow, and information from this species' Birds of the World profile. Even though this source is cited, the similarity of the added content to the original source likely Wikipedia guidelines (see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing, which is not a guideline, but summarises why this is generally avoided).
Furthermore, some of the information added to the article is incorrect (e.g., the binomial name for the species is no longer Pyrroglaux podarginus) and formatting for articles about birds follow relatively strict formatting guidelines. Wikipedia:WikiProject Birds has a lot of great resources regarding standard formatting for these articles.
Finally, the general etiquette for reverting an edit calls for an explanation of why the revert is necessary. See Help:Reverting for best practices. Some of the added material may very well be appropriate for the page, but given the concerns above, I felt that as a whole, it was not appropriate for the article. This said, I would love to discuss how best to improve the article on its Talk Page, where hopefully some additional sources can be identified to avoid the close paraphrasing.
Moving forward: I'm going to reinstate my initial reversion, and post an abridged summary of the points above to the article talk page.
