Having had a good read through MOS:REPEATLINK again, and reading "but it may be repeated if helpful for readers" I can see what you mean if someone jumped directly to the bottom of the table or someone who had no prior knowledge of Eurovision and so no knowledge of Johnny Logan and Loreen's previous wins. I also looked at some other pages that would contain repetition of names, they do too link each mention (e.g. List of Formula One World Drivers' Champions and List of Wimbledon gentlemen's singles champions)  AxG /   21:54, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

@AxG, thank you for looking into this and thinking with me. Checking similar pages is a good tip. CatSkald❄(talk) 22:53, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

Changing citation styles

With respect to your edits to Starling Arrow, per WP:REFVAR, you may not change the citation style of an article when that style is consistent. Just like WP:DATEVAR and WP:LANGVAR, the original author of the article chooses the citation style, and additions to the article must use the same style. Your changes have been reverted. Please find some other way to waste your own time. Thank you. Skyerise (talk) 12:50, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Also, please note that primary sources are permitted, and quotations must always have a citation. Your edits left uncited quotations in the article, which is also not permitted. Skyerise (talk) 12:53, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Thank you @Skyerise for reaching out and noticing these issues. My main goal was to solve the "primary sources" issue highlighted on the top of the page. Now I realise that it was a mistake to change the citation style along the way, and it's a pity that the changes have to be reverted because of my mistake. This is my first time seeing such citation style, and unaware of WP:CITEVAR, I got very confused.
The primary source for quotation was removed, because the same citation is quoted by a newly added source (bandsintown). I have doubts whether "bandsintown" could be considered "reliable", but it might be better as a source than the official website of the subject of the article. I made a mistake of placing the citation above the quote ("[2]") rather than in the end of the quote.
Beside mistakes and poor decisions, those reverted changes also included:
  • Replace "a cappella" from short description and first paragraph (I could not find any mentions of "a capella" in any of the sources). Instead add "supergroup", as they are called in all the sources.
  • Replace all inline citations from two primary sources with three new secondary sources.
  • Add citations to all of Discography.
  • Add new category.
If you agree, I can re-add the above, this time without changing the citation style, so that we can solve the "primary sources" problem of the page. Please let me know what you think, to avoid unnecessary edit warring. CatSkald❄(talk) 19:37, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Matlhaela Michael Masote when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you.
