Insignia

Hi there, thank you very much for creating an illustration for Saskatchewan Order of Merit! I'm slowly working at bringing all these articles about provincial and territorial orders up to Good Article status (see User:MediaKyle/sandbox/topics), and I was planning to find somebody to create similar images for each article so we could eventually standardize the infobox illustrations. I was wondering if you may be interested in creating insignia for the remaining provincial and territorial orders? What you did for Saskatchewan is leagues ahead of the one at Order of Manitoba and I'd love to see them across the board. No pressure or anything, I just thought it was worth asking. All the best, MediaKyle (talk) 12:48, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

Hi! Thank you for the kind words! I'm pleased with how it turned out! That sounds like it would be a fun project. I've done a bit of looking and some of the insignias for the orders will be trickier than others, but I think I have an idea of how to go about all of them. I can't say they would all look like Saskatchewan's, but I can definitely take a shot at making a higher quality svg illustration along the lines of what I did for Saskatchewan. I can putter away at making the images and add them to the infoboxes as I get around to them if that's something that you think would be beneficial. Cheers, ConfidentBobcat (talk) 22:47, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for getting back to me, that would be fantastic. I figured we'll never be able to get ahold of a free photograph of every insignia, so using illustrations for the whole set makes the most sense to me. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Regards, MediaKyle (talk) 13:33, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
I agree that we won't be able to find free photos of every insignia. I've made an attempt for all 13 provincial and territorial orders. I was worried about a couple, but I'm quite happy with how they turned out. Let me know if they are what you had in mind. I added each of my images to the infoboxes, though every time I encountered a photo of an insignia or a chancellor's collar or something, I moved that image into the body of the article so that every photo still has a use. Cheers, ConfidentBobcat (talk) 02:26, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
Those are fantastic, thank you so much for your efforts. I'm thrilled - the matching images really tie all those articles together and make it look like a proper set. I really appreciate that you took the time to do that. All the best, MediaKyle (talk) 13:06, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
Excellent; I'm pleased that you are satisfied with them. Glad I could help. Thank you for reaching out about them; I had fun doing it. Good luck in your efforts to bring them up to Good Article status. It's time-consuming work and I glad someone is willing to do it. Cheers, ConfidentBobcat (talk) 15:02, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Saskatchewan Provincial Police, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CBC. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi Magnolia677. I see you've removed some of my edits to Saskatoon Police Service. Fair enough; I thought that I had used my own words enough to avoid infringement. You disagree, and that's fine; I understand the importance of copyright; I really do. I may go back and try to redo those sections, and take even greater effort to avoid infringement, but I won't do that right now.
I also see that you've removed other information with out providing a reason for doing so, such as the rank insignia information, which is common on police agency articles. All of the images used in that section were made by me modifying existing material, as permitted under the Creative Commons license and cited in the image's description. I redid the insignia information and also provided sources to demonstrate that they are in fact the insignia used by the Service. Please reach out if you have any further concerns; I would like to talk about it. ConfidentBobcat (talk) 23:21, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
"I thought that I had used my own words enough to avoid infringement". What are you talking about? You literally cut-and-pasted to the text. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:24, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
