The Task Center
Learn what Wikipedians do and discover how to help. Has a list of maintenance tasks you can do.
- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
3200 Phaethon
Hey, I edited the "Planned flyby" section of 3200 Phaethon. How do you add those "Main article" things to the top of the section? Thank you. Also, do the meanings of acronyms have to always be bold? Thank you. Dandasohhhh (talk) 04:01, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- First, I hope you don't mind my editing your post a little, as it is a new topic. Btw, your edit to 3200 Phaethon looks good.
- To get a Main tag, use {{Main}}. See also {{More}}.
- MOS:BOLD explains the rules about when to use (and mostly, not to use) bold markup. Almost invariably, it is only used for the subject of an article or to receive an incoming link fron a WP:redirect article. So an acronym or abbreviation should only be in bold if that is the name of a redirect article.("MOS" is the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Nobody expects you to learn it or even read it all before you edit but it is good resource if in any doubt.) See also MOS:ITALIC.
- FYI, I will only have your talk page on my WP:watchlist for the next 30 days so if you have a question after that, you will need to {{ping}} me. Though you may find it faster to use {{Help me}} and a volunteer will advise (probably more competently!).
