Spanish in Philippines
Good afternoon, I'm going to ask you to please stop replacing the map used by all the projects with your biased version. The number of Spanish speakers in the Philippines was 4,584 in 2024, according to the Cervantes Institute's yearbook (0.004% of the total population of the Philippines). The map only allows for a soft color if at least 20% of the population currently uses the language. I can understand that you come with a nationalist agenda, but no statistics support the idea you want to impose. Since there's no basis for what you're doing, I ask that you stop this nonsense. Taichi (talk) 19:48, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Since that's the case, then you need to change the definitions of the colours. You need to edit what is says about the light colour and you need to change the information that you're giving about "cultural important" otherwise you need to change New York state's colour, Guam's colour, and all over territories' colours that have "cultural importance" with Spanish.
- Please tell me that Spanish isn't "culturally important" in the Philippines and Gibraltar as well as Western Sahara.
- I'm going to ask you to please stop calling the map colour with your biased version of "culturally importance."
- Thank you for understanding and comprehension of that nonsense. DavaoDude (talk) 20:29, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Also, if you're not going to change the map or definition, then I will change the map to make it that only countries with official languages of Spanish will be represented. DavaoDude (talk) 20:34, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- A serious question: are you a higher authority than the Cervantes Institute? Or do you think that by threatening me with "death," as you did on the Spanish Wikipedia, you're going to sway my position? If you don't have sources, I can mention 10 countries where more Spanish is spoken than in the Philippines: Australia with 175,000, Japan with 100,000, Switzerland with 212,000, and they aren't even in the "blue" category because they don't reach 20%. What you're asking for would imply that a large part of the world map would be blue, obscuring the strength of the Spanish language's expansion.
- I recommend that you present me with reliable sources to counter my argument, and don't just randomly name countries. I rely on sources, and this is an encyclopedia, not a political forum. Taichi (talk) 20:59, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Definitely not political as you mentioned. We're both wanting correct information right? So make the change, otherwise you're telling everyone online false information. DavaoDude (talk) 21:04, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- So instead of explaining to me and wasting time, why don't you make the change? You're in charge of the page right? You should be up-to-date. DavaoDude (talk) 21:05, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- So are you going to change it or not? We're going to rely on resources right? DavaoDude (talk) 21:02, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

- You need to change your map. Easter Island is not included.
- You also need to change the map - Colorado has less than 20% speakers of Spanish. DavaoDude (talk) 21:01, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Furthermore, sir, you've sent me four messages in a row, in a frantic and desperate manner. I'm not your butler; I don't owe you obedience. Please discuss this with the users and reach a consensus. Taichi (talk) 21:08, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- You're in charge of the page. You make the rules and the decisions. I'm just telling you what is wrong with your page and the misinformation that you present. DavaoDude (talk) 21:10, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Huh? What are you talking about? I'm definitely going to have to report you; you have no idea how things work on Wikipedia. Taichi (talk) 21:11, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
