Hello. Some of your recent genre changes have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Please refrain from adding genres to the lede in film articles. Per WP:FILMGENRE, only the primary genre or sub-genre should be included. Barry Wom (talk) 08:18, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
- Clarification Regarding Genre Edits
I’d like to address the concern that my edits constitute “genre creep.” I’m aware of Wikipedia’s guidelines on genre classification and the caution against over-categorization. My approach has been to make selective, evidence-based updates only when there is a strong case supported by the film’s structure, themes, and reliable sources. In some cases, my edits have been reverted; in others, they have remained, and I respect the collaborative nature of consensus building.
I have also actively reverted edits that I felt were examples of genuine genre creep, in order to maintain accuracy and consistency across articles. My intent is not to add genres indiscriminately, but to correct reductive or incomplete labels where the film’s narrative and thematic elements clearly align with another relevant genre. I’m committed to working within consensus and to discussing any proposed changes before implementing them if needed. Ditto Otw (talk) 11:30, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
