Welcome, EditInGoodFaith!

Welcome to Wikipedia, EditInGoodFaith! I'm SSR07, and I've been assigned as your mentor. All new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.
You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.
If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.

- Hello SSR07, thank you for the welcome message and for volunteering as a mentor. I’m new to editing and still learning Wikipedia policies. Recently I attempted to update present-tense references on the Rajpath article to reflect the official name Kartavya Path (with sources), but my edits were reverted and the page is now protected. I would appreciate any guidance on how to properly propose such changes. Thanks again! EditInGoodFaith (talk) 06:52, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @EditInGoodFaith, Thanks for reaching out and for helping to improve Wikipedia! It looks like you didn't actually edit the Rajpath article, but rather the article's talk page (where people discuss changes to the article). Your edits are still up on the talk page! Note that if you scroll up to read what others have commented on, there are several posts asking for the article's name to be changed. What is important to understand about Wikipedia's article names is that they do not necessarily reflect the official name, but rather the common name. See our detailed policy on that rule here. So, even though it may officially be named the Kartavya Path, Wikipedia has determined that more people call it the Rajpath, and thus that name has been kept. Note a similar trend on the article for Kerala, despite the fact that the state is officially called "Keralam" now. However, if after reading the policy on article titles, you believe there is a case to be made for changing the name, you can start an official move process. See how to do that here. Please reach out if you have further questions, but try to "@" my username so that I get notified, or ask on my talk page. Cheers! SSR07 (talk) 21:36, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
