Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself, at Eric Gilbertson (climber). Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. — Saqib (talk I contribs) 04:23, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, I have nothing to do with that article. I have never edited a wikipedia page in my life. I first created a wikipedia account today and have thus far made two posts, both in the talk section of the Rainier page. Please do not accuse me of something I did not do. Hello @Eric Gilbertson, assumably based on the above you are Eric Gilbertson. While it would be helpful if you disclosed that verbatim, I am not requiring you to do so, nor are you compelled otherwise to (though your username implies it, of course). I am writing to you as I have worked rather diligently on your article and feel it would benefit from a photograph of you. You are allowed to upload a photograph of yourself (assuming you took it, thus making it your own work), or point us to any copyright-free photographs of you. Others may also upload their own work of you. If you, or someone you know, decides to do this, please feel free to comment on my talk page or on the talk page of the article of which you are the subject. You could use this picture: https://i0.wp.com/www.countryhighpoints.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/K2Gilbertson.jpg?ssl=1 Eric Gilbertson (talk) 01:02, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
The photographer would need to upload it to Wikipedia or it needs to be uploaded somewhere by the author that shows the copyright release. I cannot myself upload it unless it's clearly marked (ie, on Flickr). Revolving Doormat (talk) 01:06, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
Here is the photo on Flikr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/203974554@N07/54991268779/in/dateposted-public/ Eric Gilbertson (talk) 02:25, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Can you clarify that this photo was taken by you, and not Andreas Frydensberg? It is currently being requested to be deleted as a copyright violation, and the rationale is that it is the work of Andreas Frydensberg, not your own. Revolving Doormat (talk) 07:33, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
Andreas was faster than me so we split up at the bottlneck and summitted separately. He was already headed down when I topped out. I handed my phone to another climber at the summit and that climber took my picture up there, but I didn't get his name. Sorry I was unclear if it was my phone is that acceptable? Otherwise here's a selfie I also took near the summit that could work: https://www.flickr.com/photos/203974554@N07/54992216205/in/dateposted-public/ Eric Gilbertson (talk) 15:19, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
As I mentioned several times, the author of the photo must be the one who uploads the photo and/or releases it for it to follow acceptable use policy, due to copyright laws. The selfie is acceptable. Revolving Doormat (talk) 16:50, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
To be clear, the author of any photograph (or video) is the person who is operating the camera, even if the camera does not belong to them. Revolving Doormat (talk) 17:34, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
