You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.
Important points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.
You need to discuss the disagreement on appropriate talk pages and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 14:30, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, SNUGGUMS.
- There is already established consensus on including only official certifications on Wikipedia. To clarify: record labels are not authorized to issue certifications. Certifications are issued exclusively by the official chart company of a given country or the local branch of IFPI. While labels may produce plaques on behalf of their artists, these are in no way equivalent to official certifications. The previous consensus was that certifications should come directly from the certifying body rather than the label (see WT:Record_charts/Archive_14#Romanian_certifications_awarded_by_Universal_Music_Romania). In Brazil, an official IFPI-affiliated certifying bodies with a searchable database for verified certifications already exists. User Muhandes, who added the relevant templates, has previously objected to including label-issued plaques, despite user 143kittypurry claiming otherwise.
- Nevertheless, user 143kittypurry prematurely re-added these plaques to Katy Perry’s pages before clear consensus had been re-established. What is genuinely disruptive here is disregarding collaboratively maintained consensus (see WP:CONDD; WP:TALKDONTREVERT) and attempting to apply WP:OTHER as a rationale for re-including these label plaques, which serve only to embellish Katy Perry’s otherwise impressive certifications. I am happy to discuss this further, but re-including these before consensus has been properly established does not seem encyclopedic. What must be noted here is that the WP:ONUS is placed on those seeking to include disputed content. The responsibility thus falls on 143kittypurry to achieve consensus before including the disputed content. Everm4e (talk) 20:46, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- It admittedly was hasty of 143kittypurry to make such quick restorations, and for the record, I've already warned that user as well about edit warring regardless of what consensus gets reached. Thankfully a thread broadly discussing certifications has already been started, so I hesitate to take anybody to an edit warring noticeboard before that concludes. At the same time, neither of you should be going back and forth so much across multiple pages. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:31, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
