George P. Abbott

Hello. It looks like you have added some valuable information to a Wikipedia article on George P. Abbott. However, in the course of making these changes you also wiped out a lot of text, and an explanation was inserted that the removals were of text “coped [sic] from Browning”.

If the word was “copied”, then with respect to Wikipedia the word is used in a context that is factually incorrect. I know where the text came from and it was not plagiarized from anyone. It was a complete rewrite from cited sources led by Elspeth Huxley. Perhaps Huxley was the copyist? I hope this can be worked out, as I do not like plagiarists any more than you do.

Yours, Bigturtle (talk) 02:40, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Bigturtle: Apologies for implying you copied it from someone. What I was meaning was that it was copied from the entry of Frank_V._Browning, which now that I look at it, it was just the first line "As a messdeck seaman, Browning helped sail the Terra Nova from Cardiff to McMurdo Sound in Antarctic waters". I had assumed that you had copied the wrong text into the Abbott entry. Looking at the rest of the text I'm sure that there is extra information in there and when I have time I'll look to merge the two together.

Thanks for your response, I look forward to seeing your work! Bigturtle (talk) 15:31, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Donald B. Bickler (March 5)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Grapesurgeon was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Needs more independent coverage; basically all the sources were linked to him professionally or educationally in some way
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit it after they have been resolved.
