Your username

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, and I noticed that your username, "Ivy Tech Communications", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. If you are having trouble, you may want to try using the unblock wizard.

Before requesting a new username, check if it is still available. If the search says "There is no global account for [username]", the username is free to use.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the edit. PhilKnight (talk) 17:36, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Requested username:

Request reason:

The following request was written through the unblock wizard.
Can you explain, in your own words, why your edits were promotional?
The edits were not pulled from an externally validated source
What is your relationship with the subjects you have been editing about?
I am an employee at Ivy Tech Community College.
If you are unblocked, what topic areas will you edit in?
Only those sections where I can site from original sources - not the college directly.
Is there anything else that may be helpful to your unblock request?
I am not looking to promote the college, I am looking to ensure the information included on its page is up-to-date and correct. I am well-suited to have that information as an employee of the institution.

Accept reason:

Given your agreements below, I will remove the block. You should fairly soon post a paid editing disclosure on User:JennIvy26 and review how to propose edits- I recommend that you propose edits incrementally, not everything at once. Please review paid editing, conflict of interest and edit requests. Would you agree to abide by these policies/processes? 331dot (talk) 20:22, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Yes. ~2026-14071-26 (talk) 18:08, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Can you log in to confirm that it was you? 331dot (talk) 09:30, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Yes, that request was from me. Ivy Tech Communications (talk) 15:23, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) Hi! Thanks for agreeing to abide by the processes 331dot linked above; I think it might help if you could explain how you will follow them, if unblocked. For example, what specific steps would you take if you decided you wanted to add a piece of information to Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana? You may find WP:PSCOI useful. Also, are there any other topics you might be interested in editing about on Wikipedia? Best, GoldRomean (talk) 17:38, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the opportunity to respond about this. I will abide by the processes noted above by the following:
  • I am being transparent about my conflict of interest as an employee of the College.
  • Instead of making edits to a live article, I intend to post suggestions and sources on the article's talk page, or in a draft.
  • I will get neutral, uninvolved, disinterested editors to review suggestions.
I appreciate the consideration here regarding being unblocked and helping ensure accuracy on Ivy Tech's page. ~2026-16719-05 (talk) 18:00, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Apologies - I didn't realize I wasn't logged in when I responded. The above response dated 16 March 2026 was from me. Ivy Tech Communications (talk) 14:13, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
I have renamed your account. An uninvolved admin will review your unblock request. PhilKnight (talk) 09:42, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
