Please stop attacking other editors, as you did on Talk:Death_of_Nika_Shakarami. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. 4nn1l2 (talk) 14:36, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
I have not attacked anyone. I have stated fact which is visible in the edits done to the article. However I have not named a single person. You have no right to accuse me of something I have not done Kane 1371 (talk) 17:49, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
Hello Kane 1371! Your additions to Secret of Secrets (novel) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § Licensing.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Tenshi! (Talk page) 17:42, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- considering the text in question is a part of ad campaign of the book available on the author's webpage, would it not be subject to fair use?
- Also if not, would quoting the first paragraph be possible?
- "Robert Langdon, esteemed professor of symbology, travels to Prague to attend a groundbreaking lecture by Katherine Solomon—a prominent noetic scientist with whom he has recently begun a relationship." Kane 1371 (talk) 18:01, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Most likely, yes, however it must be attributed to the author. See WP:COPYQUOTE and MOS:OVERQUOTE. — Tenshi! (Talk page) 18:09, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Ah definitely, thanks for the guidance 🙏 Kane 1371 (talk) 18:09, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Tenshi, I have read the two articles and a few others and am not sure if I am doing this right or not.
- I have written the paragraph above in quotation marks ("") and added a source tag with link to the author's webpage that the text is taken from.
- Is that correct?
- Or have I misunderstood. Kane 1371 (talk) 02:38, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- It would probably help to make it clear that it is the author's description of it, for example:
The book's official website describes the story as this:
Example content
Alternatively:On the official website, Dan Brown describes the new book's plot as "Example."

Please do not remove copyright templates from articles, as you did with Secret of Secrets (novel). Your action has been reverted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept non-free text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted, and removing copyright notices will not help your case. You can properly contest the issue at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. If you are the owner of the material, you may release the material under the Creative Commons and GFDL licenses, as detailed at WP:IOWN. Alternatively, you are welcome to create a draft in your own words at Talk:Secret of Secrets (novel)/Temp. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators and/or removers of the copyright notice templates will be blocked from editing. Tenshi! - Hi Cyclone, could you please check the article and see if it is acceptable as a start?
- I can't add the cover image because of the draft status but I think considering the product in question is not yet released it is a good article to be added to as more information comes out?
- Thanks for your help and guidances Kane 1371 (talk) 20:10, 4 April 2025 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to post-1978 Iranian politics, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
