Welcome (2)

Hey Knypster, I just saw your edit on GPV and checked your profile. And given that we share an interest in Dutch politics, I wanted to welcome you again. If you ever have questions about editing in that topic or need an opinion in a discussion let me know. And also please make an article about the Menten affair! I'm currently updating the Van Agt article here and on nlwiki, and it would be helpful if an article about Menten affair already existed. Although all the other article options are also great ;) Dajasj (talk) 19:27, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi Dajasj, thanks for your kind message! I'm relatively new here as my user page says so I'm still a little anxious of making new articles myself (probably for no reason but I'll need so). Doesn't help that the Dutch wiki has a terrible habit of barely citing anything in many articles so I'd basically have to start from scratch for most of these. My userpage list of articles is at this point largely aspirational (mostly party leaders & some other figures that are probably notable enough), but I do want to get around to them at some point. I have managed to track down an online copy of the 1978 English Hans Knoop book on the Menten affair listed as a reference on the Dutch wiki article though so that's probably going to be a good starting point for my first real article (don't know if it's going to be ready in time for your rewrite though, sorry!!!) once I get around to that. If you know of any other places where I can find 20th century Dutch politics related sources online it'd be much appreciated! I already know about parlement.nl, the Biografisch Woordenboek van Nederland (https://resources.huygens.knaw.nl/bwn1880-2000) & the Biografisch Woordenboek van het Socialisme en de Arbeidersbeweging in Nederland (BWSA, https://socialhistory.org/bwsa/). https://dnpprepo.ub.rug.nl/view/document_type/boek.html has some good free secondary sources too, a book on the Christenunie I found there is largely what I'm using to add to the GPV article for instance. Knypster (talk) 21:05, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
Hi! The books of CPG are also great and some of them are available online (https://serieparlementairegeschiedenis.nl/serie-parlementaire-geschiedenis-in-nederland-na-1945/). Another option is the online Dutch library, Wikimedia Netherlands even gives reimbursements if you want/need them.
Obviously it is great that you are expanding existing articles, that's very much needed. But don't be anxious about new articles. If you want, I can review them so there is little chance of anything going wrong (I hope). Dajasj (talk) 06:40, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for the source, that's really helpful! In regards to new articles of my own, I'll let you know once I have a draft ready. Don't know when that will be exactly, but I'll try to get started as soon as I can! Knypster (talk) 16:59, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
