Faygate railway station
Hiya, this is my first day editing on Wikipedia, so I was expecting to have my edits removed. About them, could you give me some advice on how to well, not have them reverted? (About Compass Travel’s 52, it does actually serve Faygate you can search it up).
thanks a lot. WS6808 (talk) 22:28, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi WS6808, I would check the policies on making sure that the information you add is verifiable by inline citations and references, and avoiding original research (that is, "I saw this myself so it is true"). I would generally avoid adding trivial material that pertains to railfans, as that is not easy to verify with reliable sources. As regards the bus route, there is no clear consensus on bus routes individually, so feel free to add it with a reference, but the policy WP:NOTTRAVEL generally says a big list of bus routes is not normally useful. Hope that helps! Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 10:39, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
Should have gone to Specsavers
No doubt that was aimed at me and I can live with it. But it might be misread as aimed at the driver... 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 16:50, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

railwaycodes.org.uk
Seems like a mix of WP:SPS and WP:UGC, e.g. the sentence " It is observations 'from the field' that help to keep the data lists up to date.". Thoughts. 10mmsocket (talk) 09:01, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- Ordinarily I would agree, but in this instance, I would say that Phil Deaves could reasonably be considered a
subject-matter expert
, mentioned by RCTS (Railway Correspondence & Travel Society) and Rail Technology Magazine. Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 09:21, 2 July 2026 (UTC) - I suspect that the "field" is given that he works for GWR, as well. Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 09:22, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hmmm... Really not sure about that. Perhaps a wikiproject question? I'll post something late and ping when I do. 10mmsocket (talk) 09:30, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- No worries. Not really bothered either way, but it was pretty much the only source that I could find to easily reference the CRE codes, haha Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 09:31, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Train station editing and train classes
Hi, I've been editing one of the train stations in my county for a bit now and was wondering whether or not it would be useful including information about the classes of trains and rare trains coming through, or should i just keep information strictly to the train station itself please? Thanks Imharold (talk) 09:25, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hiya, there is no real consensus on providing information about trains which stop there. Of course, trains which pass through the station aren't really relevant to the station itself (particularly rare trains, so I would avoid that), unless it is a limited service (for example, one East Midlands Railway train may stop each day but the others pass through). Hopefully that helps? Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 09:29, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- Just the station 10mmsocket (talk) 09:29, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you, that helps! So as I've been through that station a bit, would it be okay to include rough timetabling of the trains please?
- thanks for your help so far! Imharold (talk) 09:32, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- There a service section on many stations with off-peak service frequency. Are you proposing something different? 10mmsocket (talk) 09:33, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- turns out even though ive been editing that page, i completely glossed over the fact that it mentioned the 2 hourly trains oops, but would adding specific times (e.g. the first train of the weekdays and first train on the weekends) and also including when the last train is pls? Imharold (talk) 09:36, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- It is generally not needed to include exact times, per WP:NOTGUIDE. Just a general idea of the frequency is good. Cheerio, Mattdaviesfsic. Talk to me. 09:41, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
