January–February 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
New Pages Patrol is hosting a one-time, two-month experimental backlog drive aimed at reducing the backlog. This will be a combo drive: both articles and redirects will earn points. The drive will run from 1 January to 28 February 2026. The drive is divided into two phases. Participants may take part in either phase or across both phases, depending on availability. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled during the drive. Two-month drive-exclusive barnstars will be awarded to eligible participants. Each article review earns 1 point, while each redirect review earns 0.2 points. Streak awards will be granted based on consistently meeting weekly point thresholds. Thanks but your work demonstrates to me that Kubicek is not notable. What you have found are passing mentions to him or press statements from him. There isn’t a single piece of in depth coverage about him. This would be an entry into a biographical dictionary, or a feature about him in a paper or magazine, or some independent discussion by others of his ideas, methods or activities. Almost any political operative would attract the same low-level coverage as you’ve shown for Kubicek. I think the article should be redirected to the article about the party, where he can be mentioned briefly. Sorry. Mccapra (talk) 07:12, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

I'm going to put some information from the sources I found researching him into the YDFL and DFL articles when I can, since the whole battle over the party's ideology was pretty well covered between a lot of these sources. Hi Mccapra, please make sure you don't move articles to draftspace that are more than 90 days old, per WP:DRAFTNO. If you upgrade to the currently-maintained User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js, it will give you a warning if you attempt to move an article older than this, or one that has already been moved to draftspace previously. In future if you want to create an inter language link (using the default 2022 Vector interface), on the English article, click on the tools menu, scroll down to “edit inter language links” and click on that to make the connection. On the Hebrew Wikipedia (as it appears on my device) the tools menu is on the left of the screen and you have to create a link on Wikidata, which drives me mad. Welcome to Phase 2 of the January–February 2026 NPP drive. During Phase 1, we reviewed 16,658 articles and 4,416 redirects, and there is currently a backlog of 16,475 articles and 23,782 redirects in the queue. Fantastic job! I see that you are changing some articles, like Mauritania at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, into redirects and your edit summary says this is the result of an AFD discussion. I looked at AFDs closing today and didn't see any obvious candidates for initiating these changes so you can you clue me into what AFD caused this decision to change these sports articles into redirects.
