 You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our Free Culture Friday / Wiki Loves Fútbol World Cup Watch Party at Prime Produce in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. No experience of anything at all is required. All are welcome! This special event will feature starting at 1:30 pm a Wikimedia Foundation meet-and-greet bringing together local staff and community, and then at 3 pm a Wiki Loves Fútbol watch party and edit-a-thon for the Second Quarter-Final, 2026 FIFA World Cup (Q137545497). Articles for Creation backlog drive
Hello Mdann52:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

Retraction bot
Hi @Mdann52 I discovered you're maintaining RetractionBot, this bot seems wonderful and we would like to test it. Do you know if there is any documentation? Is there any other place where I could find documentation or examples by chance? Regards, LadyBirdy38 (talk) 13:12, 21 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hey - yep I maintain it! I'm presuming you're looking to adopt it over on frwiki?
- I have previously added some support for globalisation and usage over there, however got confused about the process to get it approved (it looks like you run it and then seek approval, which is different from over on enwiki!). The Bot Settings should support this already, but I'm not 100% sure it's correct. Drop me an email and I'm happy to get this setup on frwiki if that's easier than you trying to do it from scratch? - @LadyBirdy38: (sorry missed that the first time...) I also have some thoughts about the challenges you mention over on wikimania:2026:Team_challenges/Team_01F_Europe/Adaptation_de_RetractionBot - we don't have issues with bare DOI-URLs over on enwiki but I do have some draft code which handles these. - It's interesting that WPen do have some issues with DOI-URL, we'll think about possible reasons why we encountered this specific issue in WPfr.
