Thank you very much for your comment! I have not checked for offline sources, as I have no large public library near me and I'm not sure hot to search for offline sources any other way. MrOldStuff (talk) 00:40, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
Hello! I love your article. IMHO, articles like these are what Wikipedia is about!
Here are some cites - there are more - but you should be able to establish notability for the Swisher Ride King. (It might be easier to write an article about Max Swisher, who seems like he was pretty colorful.)
  • This is from Popular Mechanics: SWISHER RIDE KING 32-INCH MOWER "Max Swisher invented the first zero-turn mower. He also did ingenious things like this: Before starting the company in 1945, Swisher rigged up his mower to be self-propelled, then tethered it with a rope to a tree in the middle of his yard. As the mower circled the tree, the rope tightened, and the yard mowed itself."The citation can be added as: Maroukian, F., & Dupzyk, K. (2017). MADE in the USA. Popular Mechanics, 64–75. (If you are using the visual editor, select "cite", then "manual", then basic, and you can paste it in as is.)
  • There's a long article that was widely syndicated is daily papers. The reference can be attributed to theOttawa Citizen: Maxwell, Steve (May 24, 2008) "No more pain in the grass; Max Swisher and his zero-turn radius mower reduces the time and fuel needed to cut a lawn" The Ottawa Citizen; Ottawa, Ont.. 24 May 2008: I.11. It includes that the Swisher RIde King was on the Popular Mechanics list of 100 top inventions of the 20th century. It's a great article with lots of information. I can't paste it here as it would be a copyright violation but you may be able to find it via a Google search.
  • This includes that "Max Swisher founded Swisher Mower and Machine Co. in 1945 after Leonard Goodall, inventor of the rotary mower, rejected Swisher's idea for a motor-driven machine. "(Sterling, S. (2015, Jul 31). Board hears presentation on swisher turn-around." Also syndicated; you can ref it to The Daily Star-Journal Warrensburg, Mo. but it appeared elsewhere. (Another one you can probably Google.)
  • Max Swisher donated an airport! https://airandspace.si.edu/support/wall-of-honor/max-b-swisher
  • There's a lengthy article from 1995 but I was only able to access it through Newspapers.com. Cite is Breeckenridge, DP (May 31, 1995) "Mower Whiz Stays on Cutting EdgeSedalia Democrat Page 13
  • Others are also accessible via Newspapers. com. This one includes that he was 22 when he invented the Ride King and other info about the founding of the company. It's attributed only to "Times News Service" but the cite would be (December 3, 1952) "New Mower Company", Kansas City Times p. 39
I know this isn't particularly helpful given that I can't leave the text of the articles given copyright issues on WP, but you can email me through the link on my userpage and I will send them to you. If not, I will do an edit on the draft at some point with the citations, but we will need to cut the info that can't be cited.
Let me know if you have questions, and thanks again for your contribution. JSFarman (talk) 19:17, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
I sincerely apologize for the lack of response, as my phone was damaged and it took me a few days to get a new one. Thank you greatly for this info! I will email your user page and any and all links will be appreciated MrOldStuff (talk) 07:01, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
For some reason, likely because I'm on mobile, I cannot find your Email link. If you're wanting to send links to my Email, it's qrc1717 @ gmail.com (burner). MrOldStuff (talk) 07:11, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
All good! I'll email you the articles I found. JSFarman (talk) 04:35, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
