Category for Sanskrit Aesthetics

@Oraclesto I saw you added the category Category:Sanskrit Aesthetics on few pages, but there is a typo of lowercase "a" - I fixed on one page. You may also want to look at WP:HotCat Asteramellus (talk) 14:56, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

Hi there, thank you for your message and help! What happened is that I started with Sanskrit Aesthetics, then learned about the Wikipedia naming convention of no unnecessary upper case, so I tried to fix it to lower-case. I can't figure out how to group all these together... I may have to go back and delete the first, then stick to "Sanskrit aesthetics" instead? Thoughts? Oraclesto (talk) 04:14, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
@Oraclesto Oh ok. I am not sure how you had tried to fix the uppercase, and I am not sure how it works... But I see that Wikipedia:Categories for discussion has a process for how to do this and it says "this is generally done by experienced users" at Help:Rename. But in your case, not many pages involved - I went ahead and re-added the "Sanskrit Aesthetics" to those pages. Asteramellus (talk) 12:42, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks so much, @Asteramellus! That is very helpful. I'll repopulate accordingly. Oraclesto (talk) 23:34, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello

Hiya, I wanted to tell you that I admire how you figured out that you had misformatted Category:Sanskrit Aesthetics and then took the initiative to get it corrected; most editors of your tenure would not have been able to figure all that out. Also, welcome to Wikipedia, and if you ever need anything, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Best wishes, Compassionate727 (T·C) 12:30, 8 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi there, thank you so much for your very kind message, that means a lot to me! All thanks are due to Teahouse, where I've been able to learn a lot from experienced editors. It's wonderful to meet you, and I will certainly reach out if I need anything! Oraclesto (talk) 18:41, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Mir Hashim (artist) (February 3)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by RangersRus were:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations. Please cite your sources using footnotes. For instructions on how to do this, please see Referencing for beginners. Thank you.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit it after they have been resolved.

I am impressed by your speedy assessment. I have left a question at the AfC help desk, but while I see you're still online, I figure I should just ask you directly. I saw your note: Declining submission: bio - Submission is about a person not yet shown to meet notability guidelines and ilc - Submission is a BLP that does not meet minimum inline citation requirements
  1. Can you help me better understand why this does not meet notability guidelines? Mir Hashim is a notable Mughal painter who has a chapter in one of the sources I cited, and a biographical sketch in another source I cited. These sources, I believe, are independent, reliable, and secondary. Do you disagree, and on which points?
  2. Submission is not a BLP (biography of a living person) - Mir Hashim is a 17th century artist that has long passed away. What are the minimum inline citation requirements? I could not put my finger on a number. Would you have a suggestion for what you are looking for? I avoided padding the references list with museum listings, though there are plenty about his paintings. Would those help?
Oraclesto (talk) 16:50, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
What you have, maybe notable, but its the sources that are not helping pass the notability of the subject. In sources, it needs to show that the subject has significant coverage and not just entry or passing mention. It will be great if you can add page numbers where the subject is significantly covered and google links to books. Sources should be 2 or more with significant coverage and written by academic scholars, historians. RangersRus (talk) 00:56, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
