Welcome!
Hello, Pentane5, and welcome to Wikipedia! This is one of the most popular websites in the world, and it's only through the contributions of editors like you. And Wikipedia is not just a collection of articles, it's an active community. The real fun here is contributing to Wikipedia, but don't feel hurt if some of your first few edits get removed, as there are some central guidelines you may not be familiar with.
Some good advice: be bold in your editing, and use the talk pages to discuss with other editors. Be kind to others, because there's a lot you can learn from them, and there's lots they can help you with.
There's lots of resources to help you become a great editor, from our basic introduction to our in-depth manual. But if you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page. You can also visit the Teahouse Q&A board or type {{helpme}} on this page to get any help you need. If you haven't done so, tell us a bit about yourself. Oh, and please sign your name on talk pages and votes by typing ~~~~; our software automatically converts it to your username and the date.
Glad you're here! Greatedits1 (I hope so | If not, let me know) 23:32, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Rayon
I've been watching your contributions, thank you. You appear to know what you are talking about so I thought I'd ask you this ---
There is a pic on the article, perporting to show a viscose spinning machine from 1901. The device is in the British Museum according to the photo details. To me, it appears to be a cheese winder, rather than a spinning machine. Do you have any thoughts? Thanks - Walter Ego 16:57, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words!
- I really wish the pic came with just a little more detail. The pic's claim didn't seem implausible so I hunted around and found a Getty Images picture of a matching device https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/viscose-rayon-is-regenerated-cellulose-originally-based-on-news-photo/90776509 with a nice caption that seems to verify. Would be nice to go the British Museum and verify first-hand though. Pentane5 (talk) 17:22, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
Also on rayon, you have deleted the mention of sabra silk and cactus silk. Please read the sources. Fabrics sold under those names are not made from sabra nor cactus fibre, they are plain and simple Rayon, usually made in France. I think it is important to keep the mention. Otherwise people might mistakenly think that cactus silk is actually made from cactus fibre.Megustalastrufas (talk) 10:28, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
