Calamity Jane

Hi there. Looks like you found some sources. I want to take a closer look at them because I don't think any of them comprise WP:SUSTAINED or WP:SIGCOV. Side note: I am fluent in Spanish and have some ability to read Portuguese based on the Spanish I know.

This source only brings them up for one or two sentences in context of the Nirvana concert, and so does this. They are about the Nirvana concert and not about Calamity Jane. As I said, these show that the concert may be a notable part of Nirvana's history, but they don't transfer that notability onto Calamity Jane, who have seemingly done nothing else of note. I am not opposed to refactoring the article to be about the Buenos Aires concert, as that seems to be the part that got sustained coverage. Not everyone who was there when it happened is notable by association.

Usually when sources make unqualified claims like "the premier all-female punk band in Portland" that are highly conditional and not substantiated, I tend to give those sources the side-eye. It's the same thing as calling a film "award winning" when it was the inaugural winner of a film festival created by the film's director (which has happened), or me saying I'm the most prominent Wikipedia editor from Northern Michigan who's under 40 and can play piano. That is true, but do you see how many qualifiers I had to add to that sentence? Words like "pioneered" and "prominent" get thrown around as random musical buzzwords all the time; that doesn't mean the acts described by those words are notable. The Clash are a "prominent punk band". Calamity Jane once opened for Nirvana and that's it.

This source only name-drops Calamaity Jane and says literally nothing about them other than that they exist. That is not WP:SIGCOV.

This one brings them up for literally one sentence. Not SIGCOV. It's also a WordPress blog, meaning it's not a reliable source.

This source does not seem to mention Calamity Jane at all. Can you tell me what it says about them?

Did you find any substantial biographical info? Reviews of their albums or songs? In-depth biographies? I was unable to find anything of the sort. Just "they existed once and were at a random Nirvana concert". Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 02:45, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

ETA: I was unable to even find any copies of Grunge, Riot Grrrl and the Forgetting of Women in Popular Culture anywhere. No results on GBooks or Amazon. Can you tell me this book's credentials too? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 03:00, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you. I expresesd my concerns about the sourcing, and you added even more sources. Sorry if I came off kind of heavy handed there, I just want to make sure I'm covering all my bases. I'm still not big on the other sources, but the reviews definitely got this one over the line for me. Great work! Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 02:34, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Big Sir (band)

I can't access the sources, so can you please expand the article beyond the lone sentence with the sources you found? Ten Pound Hammer (they/them) • (What did I screw up now?) 21:36, 21 April 2026 (UTC)

Most of the sources at Big Sir (band) are readily available via the URLs provided. The Proquest sources can be accessed via the Wikipedia Library. ResonantDistortion 22:06, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
I tried, but was still unable to access them. It kept showing the paywall screen even when I used TWL. Ten Pound Hammer (they/them) • (What did I screw up now?) 22:40, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
