Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Rfantoni. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Stefano Fantoni, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Longhair\talk 05:21, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello Longhair, I am new to the Wikipedia COI polices. Indeed I am the son of Stefano Fantoni. But the article I created only reports objective facts that can be readily verified. Should I put a {{connected contributor}} at the top of the affected talk page?

@Rfantoni: Thanks for your quick and honest reply. The links I've provided above will provide information on editing with a conflict of interest. In short, it's best to request edits to an article where a conflict of interest exists. I've also added the relevant templates to the article talk page. -- Longhair\talk 06:18, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Please stop editing the article Stefano Fantoni directly. As someone with the conflict of interest, you should be posting editing suggestions through the article's Talk page. Please read this. --Bbarmadillo (talk) 20:06, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
@Bbarmadillo: I understood, from our last Talk on your Talk page, that I could remove my own edits, in any case I will use the request edits procedure from now on as you suggest. Sorry about that! Rfantoni (talk) 22:06, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
To clarify, you should be adding new content to the article though editing suggestions. Removing the content is not a problem. --Bbarmadillo (talk) 17:31, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Stepping in to assist with cleanup.
I’ve reviewed the page and wanted to share some observations. At present, there are no secondary reliable sources cited to support the content. Without such sources, the article may not meet notability standards and could be considered for deletion. It’s important that all information in the article is backed by reliable citations.
I understand that this is about your father and that his work is impressive, but personal knowledge or significance alone isn’t sufficient for a Wikipedia article. Please look for coverage in independent, published sources (such as news articles, academic journals, or other reputable publications) to support the content.Coffeeurbanite (talk) 21:38, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
Hello Coffeeurbanite, if you are referring to the last minor edit that I added to the page, the source can be found at https://fondazioneinternazionale.org/the-institute/history/
May I ask you to add the source yourself since as you noticed I have been refrained from modyfing the page due to my conflict of interests. Rfantoni (talk) 21:59, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
I’ve uncovered a few more resources, and it’s looking much stronger now. Coffeeurbanite (talk) 23:44, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

@Longhair: Dear Longhair, thank you very much for your welcome message an all informations you are giving me. I was wondering, apart from the "COI" issue, are the two issues about the "cleanup" and "lead section" of the published page, being solved? Rfantoni (talk) 09:36, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
@Rfantoni: As Wikipedia is a work in progress, articles marked for cleanup can remain in that state for some time. When tagged with cleanup tags, articles become sorted into cleanup categories so editors interested in performing that type of work here can identify articles that need work performed. I just checked over at WP:CLEANUP and notice the article has been listed as requiring cleanup so its at least reaching the correct eyeballs. You can of course request edits be performed to assist with the cleanup and somebody may respond accordingly. -- Longhair\talk 09:47, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
