From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Notre-Dame-des-Otages, Paris, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Holy Family. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Template usage at User talk:Protobowladdict

Hi RipplingRiver. I noticed that you used a template on their talk page. While using a template is fine (though you might want to read Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars), the thing that concerns me is that you called the edit vandalism. Vandalism is a specific term; one that would likely not fit with the situation. WP:NOTVAND has more information that could be helpful. Happy editing :) 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) 02:09, 20 September 2025 (UTC)

The user removed 20% of an article, some of it reliably cited and some of it crucial to the sense of the article, without explanation or edit summary or discussion. RipplingRiver (talk) 02:15, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
It was probably just a WP:BOLD edit. Since you have created a discussion on the talk page, I would recommend pinging Protobowladdict so that he knows it exists. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) 02:19, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
Mass deletions which include reliably cited material and information crucial to the understanding of the article require explanatory edit summaries at the very least. RipplingRiver (talk) 02:22, 20 September 2025 (UTC)

OAbot

It is possible to selectively deny OAbot access using this template: {{bots|deny=OAbot}}. I've been using it quite a bit on pages where OAbot keeps reappearing and making unwanted changes no matter how I structure the open access and doi links to comply. Of course, that script doesn't fix the problem globally. At the root, I think the bot's author has some tendentious views on what constitutes a functioning open access link and the bot acts accordingly. Peter G Werner (talk) 17:40, 19 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi Peter G Werner. do you put the template on the wiki article or on the citation? RipplingRiver (talk) 02:06, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
You put it in the article, typically among the templates at the header of the article source code, and it blocks the bot for the entire article. There might be a template for just a single citation, but I'm not familiar with that. Peter G Werner (talk) 03:45, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
OK, thanks very much! RipplingRiver (talk) 03:47, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
