Proposed deletion of Metaphysical Representatives and Schools

Notice

The article Metaphysical Representatives and Schools has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Creator does not understand the material and is not sufficiently familiar with WP guidelines to post directly to mainspace.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your contributed article, Figures and schools of Idealism

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Figures and schools of Idealism. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Idealism. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Idealism. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Fram (talk) 14:48, 20 March 2025 (UTC)

Sorry that this is your introduction to Wikipedia

I've left a note to this effect with your instructor. They have no business telling you to create new articles on a complicated subject to which you are only just being introduced.

You might not guess it, but most people actually are pretty friendly here.

Please feel free to ask me any questions here or on my talk page.

Thanks, Patrick, well put. Rk113004, you don't have the experience to move your own drafts to mainspace, you must submit your drafts for review. I agree that you are well out of your depth here, and it looks as if you have been given little guidance on choosing a topic (preferably one not already covered) or editing Wikipedia articles Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:58, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
Hello, can I restore my article to my Sandbox? This was my college assignment, and now it's completely gone. Rk113004 (talk) 15:09, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
I don't have the privileges to do that, but @Jimfbleak should be able to do so. Otherwise, you can ask to have it moved to your userspace at WP:REFUND. Don't worry! It will definitely be restored for you. Patrick (talk) 15:18, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
I just put in a request. If it's not back in your sandbox within a few hours, please let me know. Patrick (talk) 15:31, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
Patrick, I'll do it now Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:06, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
OK, sandboxed and formatted a bit now Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:13, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
In this case, looks were deceiving. As I mentioned in my reply to Patrick, I’m a little surprised at the lack of charity from members of a population that prides itself on its friendliness. GPenderg (talk) 23:09, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
Hello, I’m the instructor for the course that is incorporating the Wikipedia assignment. I have been instructing my students to follow the suggested timeline, which involves things like making small edits to existing pages in their own sandbox, and then getting those edits peer reviewed, before copying them over to the article. I didn't (would never) instruct my students to make wholesale changes out of the gate, so I’m not sure why this student did that. I’ll follow up with him in person. @Jimfbleak @Rk113004 @Ian (Wiki Ed) GPenderg (talk) 18:40, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
By way of (admittedly self-serving) postscript, I’ll just add that it seems a little uncharitable (and not very friendly) to assume that an instructor is telling students to create new articles on complicated subjects to which they are only just being introduced. A more charitable (and in this case more accurate) interpretation would be that there had been some sort of misunderstanding or failure of communication. GPenderg (talk) 23:04, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi there, I was simply taking the student at their word—and trying not to turn them off Wikipedia.
Glad to hear it was just a misunderstanding!

Representative Figures and Schools of Idealism

It looks like you recreated this article, which you had previously created and which was deleted, per the discussion above. It still doesn't seem to be appropriate as a standalone article. Please don't recreate deleted articles like this. Pinging @GPenderg. Jay8g [VTE] 06:08, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I'm still in the process of adjusting and improving this article. Please give me some time. thank you. Rk113004 (talk) 07:51, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
Please use the Wikipedia:Article wizard for creating articles until you have experience with the process. Thanks, Patrick 🐈‍⬛ (talk) 13:26, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi again, you might also consider making incremental improvements to existing articles such as German idealism. Many of these are already on my watchlist, but please do feel free to tag me if you'd like to call something to my attention for input. I do appreciate the quality of the sources you cite. Cheers, Patrick 🐈‍⬛ (talk) 16:08, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for looping me in on this! I’ll follow up with the student. GPenderg (talk) 03:02, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

Information icon Hi Rk113004! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Representative Figures and Schools of Idealism and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 06:46, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
