An extended welcome
Hi SaltySnow. Welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you don't mind if I share some of my thoughts on starting out as a new editor on Wikipedia: If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily.
Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.
If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's Conflict of interest policy, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter. Regardless, editing in a manner that promotes an entity or viewpoint over others can appear to be detrimental to the purpose of Wikipedia and the neutrality required in articles.
Some topic areas within Wikipedia have special editing restrictions that apply to all editors. It's best to avoid these topics until you are extremely familiar with all relevant policies and guidelines.
I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --Ronz (talk) 23:33, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
Discussion about foxchronicle.com
Hi SaltySnow. I finally got around to seeing what others think of it as a reference: Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#foxchronicle.com. Feel free to comment. --Ronz (talk) 04:46, 9 February 2020 (UTC)
Sources
Hi. I notice that you've recently added some content from sources Wikipedia doesn't consider reliable. You might like to familiarise yourself with this handy guide, and if you have any questions about sourcing the friendly people at WP:RSN will be happy to help. Factual update for World Patent Marketing section (2019 court records)
I am proposing an update to the "World Patent Marketing" section to bring it into compliance with WP:BLP (Biographies of Living Persons). The current text relies on preliminary 2017–2018 reporting and is factually incomplete as it omits the final judicial resolutions of these matters.
Proposed Replacement Text: From 2014 to 2017, Whitaker served on the advisory board of World Patent Marketing (WPM), a Florida-based vertically integrated manufacturer and engineer of patented products. During his tenure, Whitaker was paid less than $17,000 for work performed and advisory services. In 2017, the FTC filed a civil action against the company; the matter was resolved in May 2018 through a mediated settlement where the defendants neither admitted nor denied the allegations. While the company was a subject of a 2018 congressional inquiry following Whitaker’s appointment as Acting Attorney General, the court-appointed receiver stated he had "no reason to believe that Whitaker knew of any of the wrongdoing." Additionally, a related class-action lawsuit filed by consumers against the company was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff in March 2019 (Case 1:16-cv-09828-JSR).
Rationale: Wikipedia policy requires that articles reflect the final judicial record. The inclusion of the March 2019 dismissal and the specific "neither admit nor deny" terms of the 2018 settlement is necessary for a neutral and accurate biography of a sitting diplomat.
