Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Sean Conroy Real. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Ontario Libertarian Party, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

Good afternoon Zinnober9.
I am the Party Leader of the Ontario Libertarian Party. The adjustments made to the page were updates following the Executive Committee party elections.
The 2nd page I created was a page outlinging the basic details of myself.
The creation/edits contributed no information that could possibly be considered bias and are infact 100% factual. Sean Conroy Real (talk) 19:31, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
I'm not questioning whether your changes are real, my objection that you updated the page with a direct conflict of interest, but more so that you linked your Wikipedia user profile in article space. Userpages are never linked to in articlespace, and that action could be seen as being promotional.
I don't have any objection to the updates of personal stated (barring your userpage link) so long as there's reliable sources we can cite to support these. We cannot take your word for it. Heck, you might be some other Sean Conroy. Since https://libertarian.on.ca/ with the "Executive Committee" section is not currently supporting your information and no news that I can find in the past year for something like "Sean Conroy libertarian" (or for the others) supports these changes I think we need to wait for there to be something reliable to cite before this article could be updated.
Reliable sources are very important here as they protect the subject(s) from false claims being made against the subject(s). Yes, this can be annoying with how quick some events occur, but it keeps everyone accountable and helps keeps content accurate.
Since https://libertarian.on.ca/ has been used before on this article, if that were to be updated and state people's current roles, I think that could be sufficient sourcing in this particular situation. Then you could make a COI edit request with source(s) on the talk page, and an editor could review it and make the change on your behalf. Zinnober9 (talk) 04:38, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
thank you for clarification. I can see where you're coming from and I will work to make the appropriate changes to become compliant. Sean Conroy Real (talk) 13:08, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
