sorry for uploading those images under the wrong license
copyright problem
this image Small Asteroids and Comets Visited by Spacecraft.jpg includes the copyrighted image of annefrank which got deleted Anonymsiy (talk) 13:27, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
- That image is under CC-BY. Without evidence to the contrary, we have to assume they have permission from all relevant copyright holders to release it under that license. SevenSpheres (talk) 18:36, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
sorry for the trouble
im trying my best Anonymsiy (talk) 19:55, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
- Please try to upload images from sources that clearly state they are in the public domain or under a free license. Not an old geocities website with images that might be from NASA but don't link to the original source. SevenSpheres (talk) 20:12, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
sorry for all the notifs from me, i just have to ask you one more thing
could i use File:Small Asteroids and Comets Visited by Spacecraft as of September 2022.png - Wikimedia Commons and crop it for images of annefrank and braille? thanks! Anonymsiy (talk) 09:44, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- I don't think there would be a problem with that. SevenSpheres (talk) 19:19, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- ok i may do it soon Anonymsiy (talk) 20:00, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- also, is there a page where wikipedians can talk about space or smth like that? Anonymsiy (talk) 16:17, 27 December 2025 (UTC)
- There isn't a general discussion forum (WP:NOTFORUM), but you can talk about editing Wikipedia articles about space at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Astronomy. SevenSpheres (talk) 17:31, 27 December 2025 (UTC)
i have another question
is this image appropriate for the page "list of largest stars?" File:The Size of Large Stars.svg - Wikimedia Commons Anonymsiy (talk) 10:28, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
- That would be better asked at that page's talk (which I see you've done). It does look like an improvement over the current image. SevenSpheres (talk) 16:37, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
Could this be used for the infobox image for the moon triton?
i removed the lines from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:PIA_00329_-_Color_Sequence_of_Triton_Approach_Images.png to make https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Triton.png ! anonymsiy.user 17:55, 20 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
- Again, I don't know why you're asking me. Though I see you never got a reply at the List of largest stars talk page. Maybe ping an existing contributor to the article on the Triton talk page. SevenSpheres (talk) 19:54, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

faulty images
this image ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Proteus_Color.png ) is copyrighted by ted stryk. also this image of iapetus ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Iapetus_trailing_natural_color.jpg ) doesent have a source and judging by images from the same creator (gordan ugarkovic) is probably also copyrighted. thanks! anonymsiy.user 17:13, 22 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
- Anyone can nominate Commons files for deletion. On the file page, just click on the "Tools" menu at the top right, then "Nominate for deletion". SevenSpheres (talk) 17:26, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- ok thx sorry for all the pingings anonymsiy.user 17:34, 22 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
- help! i have nominated a copyrighted file for deletion, and a person who doesent know about nasa image processing is defending it. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Valhalla_crater_on_Callisto.jpg#File:Valhalla_crater_on_Callisto.jpg_2 anonymsiy.user 16:57, 27 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
sorry for all the topics from me, this is really important
people are using images i made and using them against me (people who dont know a thing about space image processing) could you please help. thanks! https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AAnonymsiy#File_source_is_not_properly_indicated:_File:Valhalla_Callisto_VGR1.png (look at valhalla and triton) anonymsiy.user 20:53, 27 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
- i made a rant about it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Astronomy#Some_people_know_nothing_about_space_image_processing anonymsiy.user 07:32, 28 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
- the mod keeps putting the images under a different license and i could get unfairly banned from commons :) anonymsiy.user 17:05, 28 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
Would you support deleting the Calydorea xiphioides redirect?
Hi @SevenSpheres. A few years back you created [this redirect page from Calydorea xiphoides to Calydorea. I do understand that it can be good for the encyclopedia to handle missing info by directing users to related existing pages, but I think this redirect is probably not helpful on balance. First, having the redirect makes Calydorea xiphioides show up as a blue link, giving the impression that content exists when it doesn't. Second, as there are no pages or redirect links for the other 20 accepted species in the genus, it gives the false impression that there's something special about Calydorea xiphioides. Even if someone had the time and energy to create a bunch more redirect pages, that wouldn't really improve things for readers. It seems better to avoid redirect pages so that, when some of these species-specific pages get created, the presence of blue links makes that clear. What do you think? Rupert Clayton (talk) 21:22, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- I created the redirect because it's linked from Gliese 367 b. Since the article doesn't exist, there are three ways that link could be handled:
- Leave it as a red link, which is unhelpful when we have information on the topic;
- Create a piped link directly to Calydorea, which would need to be updated if an article on the species is created;
- Or create a redirect, which points to the genus now and to the species if it ever becomes an article.
- You make a valid point also; you could take it to RfD and see what others say. SevenSpheres (talk) 23:39, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
sorry for all the posts but...
i just wanna say you are a very good person and you should become a moderator for the space side of wikipedia anonymsiy.user 15:50, 28 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
so, because of the nasa images thread, could i possibly port this image on commons yet?
https://www.planetary.org/space-images/triton_hiresmf1 anonymsiy.user 15:51, 30 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
- It says it's a mosaic, composited from several raw images. I find it hard to believe that wouldn't create a new copyright (it's hardly a trivial change), though I'm sure the people in that thread would say it's public domain because it has NASA in the credit line. You can try uploading it and see what happens; consensus about copyright can change on a whim it seems. SevenSpheres (talk) 19:40, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- well, im a bit worried about that, as i have one more chance before i get blocked due to you know who saying so. ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Anonymsiy#You_may_be_blocked_soon ) i think it has to do with this image i uploaded ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Natural_color_global_view_of_Saturn_and_its_rings.jpg ) which is really weird of him for me to get threatened because of that. anonymsiy.user 19:46, 30 January 2026 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymsiy (talk • contribs)
