Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, MCE89 (talk) 11:21, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Please don't mark major edits as minor edits

Information icon Hi SteppeEditor76! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Gender inequality and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. ParticipantObserver (talk) 17:12, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Request reason:

The following request was written through the unblock wizard.
Can you explain, in your own words, why your edits were promotional?
I understand that my edits may have been perceived as promotional because I focused heavily on a specific topic and relied repeatedly on a limited set of sources, which could have given undue weight to certain perspectives. My intention was not to promote any individual, organization, or viewpoint, but to contribute as a researcher in climate and energy using peer-reviewed academic literature and reputable journals. However, I recognize that this approach may not have sufficiently reflected Wikipedia’s expectations for neutrality, balance, and diversity of sources. Going forward, I will ensure a broader range of independent sources, present multiple viewpoints more clearly, and adhere more strictly to Wikipedia’s neutral point of view and sourcing guidelines.
What is your relationship with the subjects you have been editing about?
I am a energy and climate researcher; and I am interested in climate advocacy, climate change and energy security and democracy topics
If you are unblocked, what topic areas will you edit in?
I will edit more wikipedia suggested topics and pages; also if unblocked, I plan to continue editing in topic areas related to climate change, energy systems, and environmental policy, where I have academic background and familiarity with the literature. I will focus on making balanced, well-sourced contributions using a diverse range of independent, reliable sources, and ensure that all edits follow Wikipedia’s neutral point of view and verifiability guidelines. I will also be more cautious about my editing patterns, contribute to a wider range of articles where appropriate, and use talk pages to discuss substantial changes before making them.
Is there anything else that may be helpful to your unblock request?
I am committed to contributing in line with Wikipedia’s policies. I have experience using academic sources and aim to make well-referenced, high-quality edits, while ensuring neutrality, balance, and a diversity of sources.

I think you used the wrong template, as your username is not at issue, so I put the right one. 331dot (talk) 09:52, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Are you associated with the works or researchers you edited about? 331dot (talk) 09:54, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

No I am not associated with, connected with and don't know the authors personally. However, I think they do interesting research which I have used in my own work and that is why I ended up citing them a lot. I now understand that this was not right and will not do it in the future.
