Ask for help: editing via a proxy from China Mainland
| This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
Hello, I'm a Wikipedia user from China Mainland. According to Wikipedia policies, editing Wikipedia via a proxy is not allowed (See Wikipedia:Blocking_policy#Open_or_anonymous_proxies).
But since China has a government-level censorship of Wikipedia, the only way to access Wikipedia is using a proxy/VPN. I request the permission to edit Wikipedia via a proxy/VPN.
According to a corresponding Wikipedia guideline Wikipedia:Open_proxies#Editors_who_need_to_use_proxies, I have tried mailing to a Checkuser, but up to now I haven't received a reply.
If any admin sees this, is it OK to grant me the permission to edit Wikipedia via a proxy/VPN? Or what else can I do? Please help me, thanks a lot.

- Tracked in ticket:2021121110001871, though I note that it was sent two days ago and processing IPBE requests sometimes takes a while. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Upcoming expiry of your ipblock-exempt right
Hi, this is an automated reminder as part of Global reminder bot to let you know that your WP:IPBE right which gave you the ability to bypass IP address blocks will expire on 04:14, 27 June 2025 (UTC). If your IP is still blocked, please renew by following the instructions at the IPBE page; otherwise, you do not need to do anything. To opt out of user right expiry notifications, add yourself to m:Global reminder bot/Exclusion. Leaderbot (talk) 19:41, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
