The linking of two wars in Victorian Turkish Baths article

I have not deleted these two links to WWI and the Crimean War as I wanted first to ask what breaking off to read them would add to the one's knowledge of Victorian Turkish baths. A Wikilink should, I believe, always add to the information directly related to the subject of the article. It is tempting to add links to everything which has an article on Wikipedia but, as I understand it, the links are not intended to be an index to Wikipedia, otherwise there would be links on almost every line. The link to the Baths and Washouses Act 1846, for example, is a good link because it provides an important baths context for those unfamiliar with it. Not everyone would necessarily agree with the above, but throughout Wikipedia there are frequent deletions of irrelevant links for the reason I've given. What do you think? My assumption was that because they did not apply to any of the reasons provided for when you decline a link (wrong article, almost everyone knows (although WW1 could apply to that probably) and it should include more words) that I should link them. Feel free to remove if you disagree - I do understand your reasoning. Thank you for the message! User707070707 (talk) 22:24, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply, and your understanding. I have now decided to remove the links but, feeling I may have been a bit too pedantic, I had a fresh look at the paras 'What generally should be linked' and 'What generally should not be linked' at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking which I found very helpful (and reminded me of other points which I had long forgotten). So I have found it helpful to have been challenged, for which I thank you. Best wishes, Ishpoloni (talk) 15:47, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
