AfC notification: Draft:Lance Leopard has a new comment

- Hello MelbourneIdentity thank you for your comments. I have made some changes to neutralise the tone, mostly in the introductory section. I hope it is now closer to the wikivoice. (My subject was a very effusive writer, and likewise his reviewers and source materials!) thanks! Velvet123 (talk) 14:46, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you @Velvet123: great work! I think this draft is ready to resubmit now. MelbourneIdentity (talk) 01:42, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

ChrysGalley (talk) 14:51, 16 March 2026 (UTC)- thank you ChrysGalley.
- Am inquiring re: the photo? I took it myself of LL at a nightclub and I signed all the copyright releases for Wikipedia. Am not sure if I might have missed out on signing something/ticking a box?
- Thanks again.
- cheers! Velvet123 (talk) 16:20, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- Let me look into that @Velvet123, it's a very, very finnicky process and it's actually best to think about processing it after going into mainspace. My apologies for the previous declines, I don't think you had a good deal there, but I'm delighted to be able help fix that. I'll revert after making some enquiries. ChrysGalley (talk) 16:30, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- thank you for acknowledging, and so glad you could fix it. Velvet123 (talk) 16:46, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- From the evidence, it looks like that photo was deleted due to no licence being attached to the photo, and perhaps an email from the Wikicommons Volunteer Response team went unanswered? Now I don't know the full details but sometimes the VRT uses an email address which they believe to be correct but which ends up either in spam (think of all those "your Netflix account will be deleted" spams) or simply an account you rarely use.
- There are three things you can do now, one is to approach the deleting volunteer to ask about reviewing their decision; second, is to just upload it yourself again (and I will check it is looking OK in terms of flags and licences); thirdly I can upload it on your behalf, you fill in a different online form, wait for some exchange of emails which typically takes a week or so. The second option would be best, I think, not least because are already on Wikipedia, the third option is really for people who are not on Wikipedia (or don't want to be). The first option isn't really a good one since the delete happened over a month ago it's a bit of stretch to recall what happened then. Let me know what you want to do, but the critical bit is that you must explicitly sign over the photo as either in the public domain or under a non-restrictive Creative Commons licence. ChrysGalley (talk) 16:55, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @ChrysGalley thanks for this outline of possible approaches.
- I have selected Option 2: uploaded the photo again and signed for the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 4.0 option. (I think I chose that option last time too.)
- Also, I noticed that "promotor" was spelt like that instead of "promoter", when Lance's name came up in the Search. Am not sure how to change that?
- The photo is named "Lance Leopard wiki headshot.jpg"
- thank you!

- Thanks @Velvet123 - I've made a few edits to make it clear that the subject won't be knocking on the door of Wikicommons pleading for privacy. I can't see "promotor" anywhere, where specifically did you see that? If it's in Wikicommmons then it won't normally be an issue since transclusions will usually apply to anything pulled over. ChrysGalley (talk) 14:11, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, and keep a close eye on any emails that come in, particularly around a week from now. ChrysGalley (talk) 14:12, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
