Markup in short descriptions
Hi,
I noticed your revert of my my edit on Doom modding. Normally, I wouldn't have added the mark-up, but I've noticed that with annotated links, it imports the shortdesc (or at least it seems to), so I assumed that adding mark-up to shortdescs would be wise for cases when annotated links are used. In case I see an annotated link with this formatting problem in the future, is there a different solution I may use?
Thanks,

- Hi,
My reasoning is within WP:SHORTDESC, where it says each s.d. shouldbe written in plain text – without any type of markup or pictorial elements
. The fact that annotated links (I assume {{Annotated link}}?) will reflect markup correctly is not an intended feature and the docs of this template describe a solution:The text shown for the link may be piped if desired or required (such as for adding italics to the names of works)
. Therefore, if you want to add italics to an a.t. you should pipe it, not put the markup in an s.d. I hope this helps. WhoAteMyButter (🌷talk│🌻contribs) 04:20, 22 July 2026 (UTC)
