Clarification
Hello. I am assigned to be your mentor who you can ask questions toward. From the mentorship dashboard, I saw you post this at Grey Clownfish's talk page. Can you clarify what you're planning to do? I'm asking this just to make sure you won't break any guidelines or policies.
The below message will be boilerplate text. Tarlby (t) (c) 23:17, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Tarlby! I'm a freelance writer and I'm trying to reach out to editors from Wikipedia:WikiProject_Birds! I was hoping to interview one of the prolific writers of bird articles on the site to explain why the section has been so successful and why its indispensable in its compendium of information on birds. Is this okay to do? Please let me know! WritingAnArticleAboutWiki (talk) 15:54, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. It sounds fine to me, though you should first read WP:NOTLAB and WP:erw before doing so. If you believe your research may be disruptive, please consult the village pump. Also, as a freelance writer, I assume you're being paid to do this. If so, disclose this information on your user page and read WP:PAID. Good luck. Tarlby (t) (c) 16:38, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
Welcome, WritingAnArticleAboutWiki!

Welcome to Wikipedia, WritingAnArticleAboutWiki! I'm Tarlby, and I've been assigned as your mentor. About half of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.
You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.
If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.
Again, welcome to Wikipedia! Tarlby (t) (c) 23:17, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
