VAST Data is a private technology company focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning computing infrastructure.[2][3] The company provides an operating system for AI designed to help organizations build and scale intelligent applications by unifying compute, data management, and high-performance storage infrastructure.[4][5]
VAST Data was founded in 2016 by Renen Hallak, the former head of R&D at XtremIO (acquired in 2012 by Dell EMC),[6][7] Shachar Fienblit, formerly of Kaminario, and Jeff Denworth, formerly of CTERA Networks.[8][9] Mike Wing, formerly of Dell EMC, serves as company president.[9][10][11] In 2019 VAST emerged from stealth mode, announcing $80 million of funding and the launch of its data storage software built on a new distributed systems architecture called DASE (Disaggregated and Shared Everything).[12][8]
VAST ranked No. 5 on the 2022 Deloitte Technology Fast 500[13] and No. 3 on the 2023 Financial Times list of The Americas’ Fastest-Growing Companies.[citation needed] In 2023 VAST announced it had surpassed $1 billion in cumulative software bookings and $200 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).[14][15][16] In 2024 VAST was included in the Forbes Cloud 100 and was named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for File and Object Storage Platforms.[1]
In 2025 VAST was named to the CNBC Disruptor 50[17] and the Forbes AI 50,[citation needed] and announced it had reached $2 billion in cumulative software bookings.[18] In April 2026 VAST announced it had surpassed $4 billion in cumulative bookings and ended the previous fiscal year with more than $500 million in committed annual recurring revenue (CARR).[19][20] The company also reported a “Rule of X” score of 228% for the previous fiscal year.[21][22]
VAST partners with several systems technology vendors, including Arista, Cisco, Equinix, HPE, Lenovo, NVIDIA, and Supermicro.[23][24]
Funding
VAST Data has raised approximately $1.4 billion in funding.[25]
In April 2026 VAST announced a Series F funding round led by Drive Capital that raised nearly $1 billion at a valuation of $30 billion, more than tripling its Series E valuation ($9.1 billion) in December 2023.[26][27]
