Vakhtang Lolua began wrestling at a young age in Georgia. He achieved his first international success at the 2024 U17 World Wrestling Championships, where he won the silver medal in the 60 kg category.[2]
In June 2025, he competed at the 2025 European U20 Wrestling Championships in Caorle, Italy, where he won a bronze medal in the 60 kg weight class.[3] The same year, he participated in the 2025 European Wrestling Championships held in Bratislava, Slovakia, and claimed a bronze medal in the 55 kg category. After losing in the quarterfinals to Azerbaijan’s Eldaniz Azizli, Lolua defeated Armenia’s Manvel Khachatryan 8–1 in the bronze medal match to secure third place.[4][5]
In September 2025, Lolua represented Georgia at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, where he won the gold medal in the men’s Greco-Roman 55 kg category. He defeated China’s Shi Huoying 9–1 by technical superiority in the opening round, then overcame Romania’s Denis Mihai 3–2 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he tied 2–2 with Turkish wrestler Muhammet Emin Çakır, advancing to the final on criteria. In the championship bout, he defeated Iran’s Payam Ahmadi 9–7 to capture the world title.[6]
