Vodka soda
Simple mixed drink
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A vodka soda (or vodka and soda)[2] is a mixed drink of the highball variety which contains primarily vodka, soda, and ice.[3] It may be garnished with lemon or lime.[4] Splashes of various juices or other drink mixers etc. may be added as a variation to impart a subtle flavor to the drink.[5] A general rule of thumb for the recipe is a 2:1 soda to vodka ratio.[6] One notable quality of the libation is that it contains fewer calories than most other mainstream alcoholic beverages.[7] It rose to particular prominence in the late-2010s along with hard seltzers as bar customers grew more health conscious.[8] The beverage is sometimes loosely (or even lightheartedly) associated with women (especially young) attempting to watch their figure;[9] it also has a following within the LGBTQ+ community.[10]
